Mr Postman

Well, despite some little dramas with Mr Postman (let's just say they forgot the very important 'delivery' part of being a postal service), yours truly spoilt himself this month. Packages kept trickling in. They will be the last for some time - despite Thomo trying to tempt me with Polemos SPQR from Wargames Vault at $11.10 for the download. I may have to crack and get Tomorrow's War Ok, I did..  - but no more figures for 6 months. I mean it! Stop laughing.

My priority now is to reorganise the 'gimp' room at the back of the garage into a functioning wargames workshop. This means getting rid of most of the cr*p in there currently, and transferring pretty much all the contents of the study into there. It's a huge job. I have been so busy this weekend, I didn't get it together to borrow/hire a trailer, so that's next Saturday blown..

The Collector Edition Board Game, I am hoping this will be one that gets played a lot.

AK47 Redux - Just too much fun not to have. And I have been steadily collecting bits and pieces to use.

A Warrior, BMP1, T55, T72, BRDM A/C all from Skytrex. Very nice models and suitable for AK47 or FoF.

Italeri Diecast Tornado, Skyhawk and Johnny Lightning M1A1 (no 5).

 

Rebel Minis - very nice figures though some have large chunks of flash. African Militia, African Military, and possibily the start of a Tomorrow's War force, Earth Force and Sahadeen.

Finally, a Bristol F2B - to add to my HitT Mesopotamian Forces.

Independent Observation

I have a good friend.. let's call him JG for anonymity - so he comes over to have a Christmas drink.. and I have several dinky toy boats (OSA, ASR and MGB) on the painting shelf..  and he asks why they are there...

Kingdom of Ofan Navy

So when you have a fellow wargamer questioning your judgement/sanity - hmmmmmm

Modern Navy

So I took a tip from various people, and kept an eye on eBay for various old Dinky Toys. they will form my new 15mm Navy for Force on Force or AK 47.   A couple of quick paint jobs later and these three will look the business, landing forces, machine gunning enemy and so on...  now I need to make some navigable rivers..  and so it goes...

OSA Patrol boat - I am told by an Aussie Senior Petty Officer that the Indonesians ran these plus local copies

Patrol Boat..   bit rusty and elderly..  but still fast when the turbines kick in!

Rescue Launch..  except a few guns added and it won't be the one rescuing.. 

FoF

Amazon came through today with the Force on Force rules, plus two supplements. Total cost - about A$58. Which is very inexpensive. Haven't had much time to have a look, but first impressions are positive. Except all my 15mm Moderns are based on 30mm x 30mm bases suitable for Peter Pig's AK47.

I shall have a look at how the rules will work for multi-figure bases, or maybe I will be forced to look at one of two options - either rebase (yuck) or go to single figure bases, and if I do that, then the Empress Miniatures modern British are very tempting, as are the Eureka moderns. "Resistance is futile.."

Johnny Storm M1A1 Tank

I got a 'Johnny Storm' diecast tank from eBay, very cheap, and absolutely the best 15mm M1A1 model out there I have seen. So here it is with a quick wash with GW Devlan Mud, followed by a drybrush with cheap artists acrylic cream. I reckon it looks the business.  So now I am looking for some others.

I think, given how heavily it has been drybrushed, that it needs some stowage and scrim netting to look right...  time to get the green stuff putty out I think. Anyone got any good ideas for doing a scrim net in 15mm?  (I am thinking a bit of an old nylon rolled up with tea leaves glued to it..  )
