Well, after a flu, a stint in hospital, I finally got back to my figures. I can't paint as I am supposed to not be sitting up, so I cleaned up the metal Gripping Beast Vikings, and attached spears, weapons and shields.
I had already attached them to round magnabases, and I rather like the look of them. Next up some basic sand & rocks basing material, and they will be ready for the undercoat and the challenge of painting 28mm.
Well done. Glad to see you're on the mend.
ReplyDeleteWith basing then undercoating how do the washes and dry brushing across the sandy bottom go? Doesn't the black undercoat darken that first brown wash too much?
I generally go very heavy with the first base coat - then add the brown wash. It seems to work ok, as this is how I do it in 6mm & 15mm.
ReplyDeleteHmm, now that has me to thinking as I have a shed-load of basing to do. Mind you, these are already based so there is no undercoat process to worry about - but I have the Russian WW2 to do so if I can just persuade the Aquadhere (or Woodland Scenics white glue) to to the plastic FoW bases then it may be worth while.
ReplyDeleteIn fact just thinking about it, maybe lay the sand then stick the vehicles to the base second followed by undercoating. Might try that when I get around to the Hungarians.
